Analysis Of Shakespeare s Taming Of The Shrew And ...

Alyssa Nowak 6 October 2016 Prof. Ron Dye FYS: Shakespeare Comedies Midterm Disguise and Trickery One of the many factors that William Shakespeare implements throughout all of his comedic plays is the element of disguise and trickery. This element is shown through his works of As You Like It, Taming of the Shrew, and Twelfth Night. The primary purpose for using disguise and trickery is for deceit. The deception involved with changing characters’ identities is used for momentary gain. In the end, the concluding outcome of such deceit leads to exposure of a higher truth. The characters most closely involved with these occurrences of deceit normally acquire something about themselves by the end of the play. Disguise is additionally used to generate misunderstandings, internal conflict between the characters, and the comedic component of the play. In Shakespeare’s play Taming of the Shrew, disguise and deceit play an important role in how the characters interact throughout the play. Among the several characters who disguise themselves as a different character in the play, Tranio conceals himself as master Lucentio. He does this in order to arrange a marriage with Bianca. Traino comes up with different ways for Lucentio to win Bianca’s heart. For instance, Traino offers the advice to become a schoolmaster and undertake the teaching of Bianca. On the other hand, Lucentino is disguise as a classics instructor named Cambio so he can gain access to Bianca and win herShow MoreRelatedShakespeare s Twelfth Night ( C. 1600-01 )2907 Words   |  12 PagesINTRODUCTION Twelfth Night (c. 1600-01) is a complicated play which deals with the nature of love, gender role and the intricate comic and tragic experiences of love. Women s Suffrage During World War II Essay - 1621 Words

Passed by Congress on June 4, 1919, the 19th amendment was a milestone for which many had struggled, it had taken years of agitation and protest to finally achieve this milestone. Female supporters of women suffrage organized, petitioned, and picketed to win the right to vote, but it took them decades to accomplish their purpose. By 1920, the American electorate had changed forever, but many argued that giving the right to vote to women wasn’t going to be enough. Women wanted independence, equality, they wanted the right to buy a house, practise blue collar jobs, they wanted to escape their domestic, housewife stereotypes. They proved themselves when the situation called for it; they served as nurses in all the wars, provided food, they served as telephone operators, journalists, and over 25 000 U.S women served in Europe during World War l. Had they not been successful in providing for the war, had they not been supportive and had they chosen to stay at home like they had b een taught to do, this amendment would never pass. While both World Wars were and still are a very low point in history, it was nesessary for the enchancement of â€Å"equality†. Company has adopted separate mechanism of online dashboard which not only attracts clients to buy companys product but also increase brand image. This level of advancement of technology makes company innovative and creative in market (Gu, et al. 2017). There are several three strategies which Wesfarmers has adopted after implementation of enterprises system in its value chain activities. Product differentiation strategy This product differentiation strategy helps organization to come up different products in market after maturing the stage of one product in market. Wesfarmers (Super market industry) It is considered that Wesfarmers plc after using enterprises system could easily make changes in its offered products and services in market. However, company needs to make valued variation in existing physical products (Lin, et al. 2016). Therefore, by introducing existing products and services accompanied with highly developed technology will help company to distinguish its products and services from those of others in market and result to grabbing more market share (Jones, et al. 2016). If Wesfarmers plc does not follow enterprises system in its value chain activities then it will have to face problem in developing new ideas and creative planning procedure in its research and development department while following product differentiation strategy. Wesfarmers has established effective brand image and distinguish its value chain activities from those of others in market. Strategic planning of company starts with the top management of company and implement by the persons indulged in value chain activities of organizations. For instance, in order to customization of services and products offered in international market, Wesfarmers and Samsung should align the enterprises system functions with the working procedure of planning department. Wesfarmers (Super market industry) There are several rivals in supermarket industry such as Tesco, Woolworth, Morrison plc and other companies which are offering their goods and services in supermarket industry. However, Wesfarmers by adopting enterprises system could reflect its innovative and creative business functioning in the market. This planning process helps company to enter into strategic alliance with other organization as well Samsung (IT industry) This is the main strategy which is formulated by the Samsung to create effective brand image in clients mind. Company has created competitive advantage in its offered goods and services in market to create creative image in clients mind. This could be evaluated by considering a simple example that Samsung has launched an online app for its customers whom they could install in their phones and other electronic products to log their problems and establish effective communication with the top management of organization (Lee, et al. 2013). Enterprises system helps in large scale application software package support and assists business process flow of information in Samsung value chain activities. It is evaluated that if company could install enterprises system then it would establish a proper working channel for clients and employees as well. This enterprises syst em will be used by organization to collect the information from the clients and customized its existing working activities in determined approach (Wang, Meng and Zhang, 2017). Now in the end, it could be inferred that Samsung has to implement proper level of strategic planning if it wants to accomplish its certain goals and objective in determined approach. Sustainable competitive advantage strategy It is evaluated that achievement of competitive advantage is not permanent or long lasting. In order to gain sustainable competitive advantage, company should implement its generic strategies which must be grounded in its attribute that meets four criteria such as valuable, rare, inimitable and non-sustainable. Wesfarmers (Super market industry) With the help of enterprises system, Wesfarmers plc could grasp these all intents and could increase the overall productivity in market. Therefore, it could be inferred that by using effective enterprises system in value chain activities, company could easily create distinguish brand image and creative business functioning in clients mind in supermarket industry (Slack, 2015). Furthermore, enterprises system will establish automation in working channel, reduce the communication channels and provide a platform to the entire employee to implement proper level communication among them and clients as well. Therefore, if Wesfarmers plc adopts enterprises resources system then it will increase the overall productivity and efficiency of business in long run. In addition to this, Enterprises system could also be used by company to develop consistent innovative and creative strategy in short term and long run (Smith, 2013). It will provide effective level changes in products and business functioning of organization. Therefore, it could be inferred that if Samsung could implement proper level of enterprises system in its value chain activities then it will surely increase the overall productivity of organizations (Khorshed, et al. 2015). It is observed that Samsung has been running its business in electronic products selling market. However, by using enterprises system Samsung come up in market with a new effectiv e business process system. This process system helps management department of Samsung and other employees to directly connect with clients and establish effective communication among them. This level of strategic planning will help Samsung to create online platform to grasp the market share either on domestic and international level. However, by adopting enterprises system, In addition to this, strategic planning of company is related to management of business through short term and long term tactical and operation plans. For instance, if Samsung wants to launch its new products and services in particular market then company has to collect data and analysis it determined approach Conclusion There are several problems which are faced by organizations while implementing proper level of strategic planning accompanied by enterprises system in value chain activities. Klaas1 Essays - Child Welfare, Social Work, Childhood, Child Abuse

Klaas1 Riley Klaas Professor Jessica Wedemeyer June 25, 2018 ENG 101 Child Abuse: A Social Injustice The song Blown Away by Carrie Underwood is the perfect song to show the social injustice of child abuse. The imagery in the video, the words in the chorus and the verses Carrie uses are powerful and bring to light the abuse of power some adults hold over children. Child abuse, whether emotional, physical, sexual or all of the above is a social injustice that is done to the most vulnerable of our society. It is a societal issue that crosses all races, creeds, religions and regions. The injustice done to children and the continued failure of our society to protect them is like a blight on the fabric of humanity. The camera's opening shot is in black and white. The image seems slightly blurred and shows us a father and college aged daughter in a small, old fashioned kitchen. The song actually opens with dialog between them instead of music. The dad pours some whisky into his coffee cup and the daughter notice s yet says nothing . At first it seems as if the dad is concerned and offers to help his daughter with her homework, but she quickly rejects his offer and the scene rapidly turns to violence. He grabs her arm and tries to pull at her. She forcibly escapes and he yells at her "Hey, I am your father!" This all happens before the music actually begins. The Klaas2 camera is moving all around the two people and the people are also moving. The effect is haunting ; it appears as if he is exerting his "Fatherly Authority" over her. When the music begins, there is a storm brewing, wind, lightening , and thunder is heard. A perfect Oklahoma storm . As the music begins, the wind is blowing and the storm is coming. I believe that in the second line of the song, where Carrie Underwood sings, "Those storm clouds gather in her eyes , " the girl is indicating that she is finished with being abused. Next, she describes her dad as " mean " and indicates that her m other ha d passed away. Carrie Underwood uses the line, "her daddy was a mean old mister - Mama was an angel in the ground." These words , along with the visual , allow the listener to understand the theme of this song , which child abuse . Towards the end of the first verse, Carrie sings , "She prayed blow it down." Th is line leads into the second verse , which continues to give the listener an idea of how awful and long lasting the abuse has been. She uses the word "sin" saying, "there is not enough rain-to wash the sins out , " and refers to, "There's not enough wind- to rip the nails out of the past." She knows that unless something supernatural or God helps her, she may never escape. The third verse and the chorus allow us to see the victim ' s point of view on this situation. In the video, t he dad is passed out on the couch, and the twister is coming. The words, "shutter every wind, -every brick, every board, every slamming door," then, "till there's nothing left of yesterday- every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away, Blown away.". This chorus indicates the importance of the storm and twister taking everything and leaving nothing. Klaas3 Repeating the words "blown away," is a way to emphasize that the wants nothing left, absolutely nothing left. Returning to the visual aspect of the song, the viewer watches as s he leaves him there passed out, to face wha tever may come , while she seeks safety in the storm cellar. The words, "some people call it taking shelter, she called it sweet revenge,." is telling of her feelings. By using the words, "sweet revenge" she uses dramatic irony. The image in the video is her memories of her father's past violence, the storm, the wind whipping and the tornado wiping everything away. The tempo is fast and the camera switches from people and past memories to the present moment and
